About Me

I am an Irish girl from the midlands (Co. Offaly), born in '98. I went to school in Westmeath where during my time in Transition Year I found my passion for drawing and decided that this was my career path, I won this art award at the end of TY. Before that I wanted to be a guard or a zoo keeper... I think I made the right call. My art teacher inspired me so much and for that I am forever grateful. I had a new sense of confidence in my work after little pep talks from my teacher, this is where my  Instagram started.

I set up an IG art account called 'drawingsbykaz' in 2015. The Instagram art community is such an amazing place, I made friends with other artists, we learn from each other and follow our journeys together which is so uplifting and a daily inspiration for me. It wasn't long until my following started to build up. Various celebrities started commenting/liking/re-posting my drawings which brought huge numbers of traffic to my page. I love Instagram for these reasons and I always will be a huge fan of the app.

What am I doing with myself now? I study Animation & Illustration at Athlone Institute of Technology, it's a 4 year course. I am part of the first year to ever run this course and I'm loving it! I draw everyday (mostly assignments but still, it's art) and living in Athlone, away from home, is a great experience. Although there is the occasional tear when it comes to missing my four legged best friend, Timmy. (I'm a huge dog lover!)

As an artist I have not settled down with any particular style or material, instead I like to experiment and go with the flow. Art to me has no rules so I don't plan on making any. I am so glad that I can turn my hobby into my job. Will it ever really feel like hard work then when I am doing what I love? Drawing, like many artists, is my escape from the madness around me. That and of course, Netflix. As long as I have good people surrounding me, my art bag, Timmy & a WiFi connection I'm a happy girl.
